Sodor Geosciences was established by Principal Consultant Chris Bargmann, in 2018. Chris is a professional geologist with extensive experience in the mineral exploration and mining industries. He holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Geology from Leicester University, and an MSc in Mineral Resources from Cardiff University. He is a chartered geologist and Fellow of the Geological Society of London (CGeol FGS); is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist in South Africa (Pr.Sci.Nat) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Chris is also a Cape Wine Master; a South African qualification that is similar to Master of Wine in the UK.

Chris spent his early career living and working in Southern Africa, initially with De Beers in Botswana and then in South Africa with JCI. Following the completion of an MSc in 1999, Chris worked for mining industry consulting groups in the UK and several mining/mineral exploration companies in a variety of countries, including Argentina, Armenia, Colombia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. His expertise ranges across all stages of the mineral exploration process, from initial target generation and grassroots reconnaissance through to resource estimation and feasibility study. He has also worked on both open pit and underground mining operations.

Whilst gold and copper have formed a large part of Chris’s career, he has also spent time working on chromite projects and in diamond exploration. In terms of copper/gold deposit types, Chris has worked on epithermal and porphyry systems; orogenic and paleoplacer gold deposits, iron oxide copper gold systems (IOCG) and volcanic massive sulphide deposits (VMS).

Chris has an extensive mineral exploration experience in the MENA region and within the Arabian Nubian Shield (ANS) in particular. He spent nine years running exploration programmes in the Sudan and Saudi Arabia resulting in a unique and extensive knowledge of the geology and mineral deposits of the ANS, which is now an emerging mining destination.

Chris is a competent person with respect to mineral reporting codes. He has been responsible for, or involved with, several NI 43-101 Technical Reports and JORC compliant reports.

Chris is the author of several published papers and has made numerous presentations at geological, viticultural and mining conferences.
